Help- I'm out of Ultragen-Another data point-This stuff works for me.

Well I added a rather unintentional leg aspect to my experiment by picking the absolute worst time to run out of UltraGen. I ran out and kept procastinating reording then went on the road for a week with no internet so I couldn't order and then finally did and the Fed EX guy is taking the long route to get the package to me, and now I'm out of EFS too. (The Fed Ex tracker says it is in MD and should be delivered by Monday).

As a result I got to find out if there was any noticable impact of dropping the UltraGen for 2 weeks and replacing it with my old standby of chocolate milk. Well the first week was an easy week, so nothing really jumped out at me but the second week I definitely noticed a difference. The UltraGen realy helped me recovery well and my legs felt really fresh the day after a hard workout, but this week I really felt sluggish the day after a good bike ride. I did a 40K TT in 1:05:32 but I really didn't bust it from the start so I won't compare that effort to my PR early in the experiment, but i did do a 90 min Heart Rate ride and found my ave HR was about 6-7 BPM compared to a very similar conditions 3 weeks earlier (same pace, similar runs that day and both the day after a 40TT). But mainly I feel less energy this week compare to 3 weeks ago in a similar spot in my off season cycle.

So my conclusion is that a 6-7 BPM (change with the other conditions being similar) is statisically significant enough to appear that the UltraGen did help me recover faster. Either way i can't wait till my shipment finally arrives. I am trying two new flavors of EFS and Ultragen (Tangerine and Orange Creamsicle. I tried Grape and Fruit Punch last round). I am still trying to figure the best point to add Optgen and/or prerace into the mix. My first big race of the season will be the Revolution 3 Olymic race at Knoxville.
