EFS drink osmolality
4 Replies

Just wondering if anyone knows the osmolality of the EFS drink?? Also, what happens to that number if you concentrate the formula?? I'm experimenting with different ways to pack less on the bike, but…

haha! Sorry to hear about your ankle! That's great that you felt lighter, we can all use that, eh?

My second 3 days of GF complete, and the findings did change somewhat from the first 3 days GF. That said, during the first 3 days GF I was training normally, the only change I made was in my diet. Since I sprain my ankle, not much in my life would…

Hey Sonja.....great report!! I go back on the second 3 day GF diet tomorrow. Hope I don't have the GI problems you were having. I guess you won't be going GF for IMCDA, good to learn that now!!

Wow. Once you're past the first 48-72hrs, putting your foot in a hot tub and doing some gentle active movement will keep it from stiffening up and bring new blood flow into the area. Keep icing after you've been on your feet for any length of time a…

Thanks for the tips, just picked up some arnica. My ankle is finally started to bruise and the swelling is starting to come down......not fast enough.
January 10
Ibuprophen or arnica may help control the inflammation. You can also use an ace bandage for compression and support.

I have heard that compression socks are good for sprain recovery, but I would honestly do a little more research before forking over $45 for a pair of compression socks.

This is a cry for help!! Yesterday, while out walking my dog I managed to slip on some icy stairs and by the time I landed I was 3-4 stairs lower than when I started. The bad part is that I landed on the outside of my right foot, and rolled my ankle…

Heather......I can bake bread, and you were right, it's good!!

Hey Sonja.....I'll let you know. So far (2nd day normal diet) I feel the same as always, no change from the 3 days of GF diet. Even ate a bunch of veggie pizza last night??

I have a partner in GF-test-ness! I'm interested to see what you find!
January 8
OK, I know some of that was about me??lol Maybe I should just send you some cash and you could send me the bread?? Looks AWESOME, I guess you've convinced me; I'll hit Community Foods and pick up a package. Cheers!!

Well, the first three days GF seemed to go quite well. Truthfully I didn't have to change my diet too much; with the exception of bread. I quickly realized that I love whole grain bread!! I did manage to find a quinoa bread that I like, but at $11 a…

Thanks Heather.......I'm not sure I really have it in me to bake bread. However, I did find an excellent quinoa bread at my local Community Foods. One negative is that it's $11/loaf!! Wow!! Thanks for the cereal suggestion, I'll pick some up.
January 6
Just posted some decent bread recipes in the recipe section if you're interested. I am a big fan of Nature's Path Gluten Free "Mesa Sunrise" cereal - it comes in those handy, giant ECO packs too.

Kevin.....thanks for the tip, I skipped the cereal and went for the french toast with bananas and a little brown sugar. You were right, lots of flavor; had to hold myself back from eating too much before my swim.

GF Test Results

My second 3 days of GF complete, and the findings did change somewhat from the first 3 days GF. That said, during the first 3 days GF I was training normally, the only change I made was in my diet. Since I sprain my ankle, not much in my life would fall into the normal category.....limited to no training, a lot of sleepless nights, and going GF again?? So, my results may not be the same as what I would have encountered if I had been healthy??
So, although my results may have been comprimised, th… Continue

HELP!!

This is a cry for help!! Yesterday, while out walking my dog I managed to slip on some icy stairs and by the time I landed I was 3-4 stairs lower than when I started. The bad part is that I landed on the outside of my right foot, and rolled my ankle pretty good. I had some x-rays done, no broken bones; just a sprain (at least moderate class 2). Beyond the RICE method of recovery, does anyone have any sure fire tips to a speedy recovery?? Anyone ever heard of the Bret Mundt Method?? Any advise wo… Continue

Day 3 GF finished

Well, the first three days GF seemed to go quite well. Truthfully I didn't have to change my diet too much; with the exception of bread. I quickly realized that I love whole grain bread!! I did manage to find a quinoa bread that I like, but at $11 a loaf I can't see myself eating as much as I would if it were a normal price??
As for how I feel, I didn''t really notice any apprecable differences. Energy levels, training performance, sleep, trips to the restroom, etc etc all normal.
So, now I'll g… Continue

Bye Bye Gluten

My first day of gluten free eating is rapidly coming to an end. I've decided to implement the 3 days off gluten, 7 days on, 3 days off protocol to see if I notice any changes. The first thing I noticed was that the rice bread I had for breakfast was a little spongy.......couldn't really get it to what I would call toast??? Tomorrow I think I'll have Koala Crisps instead!!

Awesome! Yeah I'm really excited about CdA! It should be fun! I'll have to get some pointers from you about it once it gets closer to race day!
