"Great race report - congrats on a great race! On the bike do you mix your liquid shot w/ water or take them separate? I haven't tried mixing with h2o and wondered how it worked."

Taking the Steps that Matter; lots of lessons

I am sure I can speak for most of us in saying, the season opener race is always the most nerve racking...going in to my race this past Sunday at MIT, I was excited and very nervous all at the same time. I couldn't help but think about all the unknowns; knowing good and well I had put in the time and effort (the steps that matter) for a successful and fun race. It never fails, the night before the race and the morning of, the thought of "why am I doing this?" or "how can I get out of racing?"…See More

Consistently impressed

For a Triathlete that has struggled with nutrition, especially electrolytes during training and racing from the beginning; I always have an open ear for any suggestions and recommendations that have worked for others in the past. That is why I am sharing my continuous and consistent success with ALL the First Endurance products. Just this past weekend I went for a 3.5 hour ride and a run at race pace off the bike. I was concerned about my nutrition; I was trying something new; that alone is…See More

About me
My name is Mandy McLane. I have been racing triathlons since 2008 and with hard work and commitment combined with some natural ability I have improved in each of the three sports culminating in a win in the Elite Amateur division at the Chicago Triathlon and US Open championships in Dallas. I began in sports with 8 years of YMCA competitive swim-team experience followed by very successful high school years on the track, basketball and volleyball teams. I was fortunate to earn a Clemson University track scholarship where I excelled as a pole-vaulter and heptathlete. I am a highly energetic and strongly motivated individual. Not only do I dedicate my time and energy to triathlon, but five years ago I created a speech and language therapy business named Freedom of Speech, LLC. We offer children and adults the opportunity to improve their communication skills. Since I am working full time as a speech and language pathologist, and racing as a competitive triathlete, I have learned how to manage my time well, how to effectively communicate and educate others, as well as how to collaborate and work as a team member.

Within less than a year’s time, I have managed to excel at the Elite Amateur division and qualify to get my professional license. I began my 2009 season in April with the intent to race at least once a month in the Elite Amateur division. You can see from my race resume it has been an exciting year so far and I still have one more race. My goal for this race is to podium at the70.3 World Championships. With my success during the 2009 race season I have qualified to get my professional license which I plan on obtaining for the 2010 season.

The support, knowledge, and expertise of my coach, Joanna Zeiger (professional triathlete and 70.3 World Champion 2008-2009); Emily Smith with EJS coaching, Inc. (swim coach); Chuck Wolf with Human Motion Associates (specialist in sports science and human performance); and my bike shop, Epic Cycles, has helped me achieve this success in such a short period of time. They all have contributed to my improvement by way of my training schedule, technique work, overall strength and flexibility, alignment, nutritional information, mental strength and bike support.

EFS Drink

I just wanted to give FE kudos for their EFS prototype drink...I used it for the first time yesterday, during a 3 hour ride and I felt great during and after the ride. It provided me with the necessary calories and electrolytes to sustain my energy and prevent cramping...not to mention, the flavor is good; not too strong or too weak. I used a scoop of EFS prototype drink for every 12oz of water...the temps were cooler so I didn't need as many electrolytes. What's nice about EFS prototype drink… Continue

That is fantastic! I have yet to do a triathlon.
I am training at Isleworth and for my own business, I am a personal trainer/Fitness consultant now. I have been training for a few years now, after 5years in the medical field. I combine a lifetime of sports, culinary arts, and my medical experience to create a great program for people. I love training.
I decided I wanted to be more hands on, help people before they get to the point of hospitalization. You have done very well I see.
Yes. I am in Windermere about 2 miles from Isleworth. Short commute, yay!
I want to start training for a triathlon, I want to do one badly. So let's see what I can do. What are you doing besides triathlons right now? Would love to catch up with you sometime. Let me know.
